Parish Council Clerk Vacancy

Leckhampstead Parish Council is looking to recruit a new parish clerk to take over in September 2016.   The parish clerk is vital to the smooth running of the council and requires someone with enthusiasm for local matters and the appropriate skills.


This is an interesting and varied role with a salary of £10.83 an hour (SCP23) for approximately 6 hours per month which involves working from home and attending meetings (evenings) every other month.

The parish council undertakes fairly limited tasks.  The clerk assists the council in the proper discharge of its functions by providing advice and administrative support, managing its work programme, and implementing council decisions.

The person selected will have good administrative, communication, writing and IT skills as the job includes organising meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes and dealing with correspondence in accordance with legal requirements.


The clerk needs to communicate with councillors, parishioners, Buckinghamshire County Council, face-to-face, over the telephone or by email. The ability to work on one’s own initiative on behalf of the council is paramount.
