Leckhampstead Garden Awards 2017

There are nine trophies to be won in the 2017 Leckhampsterad Garden Awards on Sunday June 25th.

Sponsored by the parish council, the Awards were first held in 1998 to celebrate the fantastic gardens in the village. It began with two classes and two trophies - for best decorative garden and best vegetable plot. It has now grown to eight catergories and a special award for the best overall garden.

Judge Terry Godfrey enjoys coming to Leckhampstead and looking at the range and variety of gardens and planting  He is always willing to offer advice as well as handing out trophies!

Young gardeners have double the chance to win, with the Leckhampstead Cup for the best junior gardener under 16  and the additional Summer Garden on a Plate competition, with prizes and medals to be won.

The Williams Cup for Best Vegetable Garden
The Riley Cup for Best Decorative Garden
The Alice King Cup for Best Container Gardening
The Mary Rogers Trophy for Best Water Feature
The Poppy Fisher Award for Best Garden for Wildlife
The Terry Godfrey Cup for Best Cottage Garden
The George Scott Memorial Cup for Best Garden with Professional Help
The Leckhampstead Cup for Best Junior Gardener (16 years and under - any of the above categories)
plus
The Sheikh Shield awarded for the garden that the judge considers the best overall
and
A Summer Garden on a Plate: 3 classes  3-7 years, 8-12 years, 13-16 years
